Idli rice is a major ingredient used for the preparation of idli (rice cakes), a traditional Indian savoury. Organic Idli Rice grains are acquired naturally and no chemicals are added while processing them.
Idli rice contains mostly of short and medium-sized grains as they have more starch in them compared to the longer grains. Its ideal colour should be chalky white. The starch helps in adding texture to the idlis and makes them soft and spongy. Idlis or rice cakes are a staple food item in south India.
