Fenugreek comes from Fabaceae (pea) family and is widely cultivated and consumed in Central and South Asia. It is an annual green herb with round leaves and white flowers. Its seed pods contain about 20 yellow-brown seeds that have a maple syrup kind of taste but tastes more pleasant when used as a spice in dishes. They have medicinal properties.
